Shipyard

For the past week Niagara has been in Cleveland, OH at Great Lakes Towing in a Dry Dock.  The Brig is doing well and doesn’t need any major repairs this time around.  The USCG and ABS inspections went very well.  The only thing we had to do was add some packing into our stuffing box.

The thrid coat of bottom paint is going on today and the brig will launch tomorrow and come home for the winter.  The few remaining pro crew and a couple volunteers will make the trip back.

While the brig has been gone the boatswain, Rob Aspinwall, with 2 AB’s have been back at the shop stripping, sanding and varnishing our spars.  All of the spars will have fresh coats of paint or varnish for the beginning of next season which hasn’t happened for a longtime.
